After a ban on YouTube that has lasted over a year, the restrictions on the access to IMDb come at a time when Pakistani films are gaining momentum and international recognition. While the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has not confirmed an official ban and any reasons for doing so remain unknown, users in Pakistan remain unable to access it.
Tough luck, fellow Pakistani entertainment enthusiasts.
WHAT IS IMDb?
Internet Movie Database (IMDb) is an online database of information related to filmstelevision programs and video games. This includes actors, production crew personnel, and fictional characters featured in these three visual entertainment media. Since 2008, a feature also enables U.S. users to instantly view over 6,000 movies and television shows from CBS, Sony and various independent film makers. The database had been expanded to include additional categories of filmmakers and other demographic material, as well as trivia, biographies, and plot summaries.
It is one of the most popular online entertainment destinations, with over 100 million unique users each month and a solid and rapidly growing mobile presence. IMDb was launched on October 17, 1990, and in 1998 was acquired by Amazon.com
